Previously Macmillan Lymphoedema Advanced Nurse Practitioner and Team Leader at University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust (2003 – 2024).

Areas of Expertise:

Along with her full-time role as a Director at Accelerate, Rebecca is a proud Trustee of the British Lymphology Society and a member of the BLS Children with Lymphoedema Special Interest Group and the BLS Scientific Committee. She is also the annual BLS conference organiser.

She is a regular presenter in both national and international conferences and is on the editorial board for the Journal of Lymphoedema and the British Journal of Community Nursing’s Chronic Oedema supplement. Rebecca also devises the programme each year for the 1 day National Lymphoedema conference held in London by MA Healthcare.

Rebecca’s passion for service development and innovation led to her setting up the UK’s first Red Leg clinic and as a highly skilled, experienced NHS lymphoedema practitioner, dedicated to evidence based practise and education she fulfilled her desire to develop tools to support practice Nationally with initiating and authoring the BLS Lower Limb Inflammatory Pathway (formerly the Red Legs Pathway), the BLS’ first position paper for Assessing vascular status in the presence of Lymphoedema prior to the application of compression hosiery and the BLS management of Lymphoedema in the presence of DVT.

After 20+ years as an advanced nurse practitioner and team leader of a large acute NHS Trust Lymphoedema service in Staffordshire, Rebecca joined Accelerate in a new role as the Director of National Clinical Services. The aim of the new post was to increase the reach of Accelerate nationally and to build on its already excellent reputation.

Accelerate is a social enterprise (not-for-profit, Community Interest Company) whom for over 10 years has been providing award-winning NHS care to people living with wounds and lymphoedema. Due to demand in January 2025 Accelerate opened its doors for the first time to private patients with the aim of allowing individuals with Lymphoedema choice regarding their service provider and to enable those living where Lymphoedema services are lacking to access five star (Trust pilot rating – 2025) lymphoedema assessment and management.
