About Us:
Since being founded in 1998, LE&RN has endeavoured to accelerate the prevention, treatment and cure of these diseases while bringing patients and medical professionals together to address the unmet needs surrounding lymphatic diseases, which include lymphedema and lipedema.
Our Purpose and Aims:
To accomplish its goals, LE&RN sponsors research fellowship grants, an international patient registry and biorepository, live-stream symposiums, the peer-reviewed journal Lymphatic Research & Biology, weekly e-newsletters, scholarship grants to lymphedema therapists, conference travel awards to young researchers, and a vibrant website with features such as Ask the Experts, which connects patients with the field’s more renowned practitioners. LE&RN has International Chapters. In 2016, LE&RN created World Lymphedema Day on March 6th, which was established by unanimous vote of the United States Senate and is now celebrated globally.
Benefits to People Living with Lymphoedema:
Besides offering a broad array of services to the lymphatic community, LE&RN is at the forefront of awareness campaigns and advocacy efforts for greater research. Academy Award winner Kathy Bates is LE&RN’s Spokesperson. LE&RN also is active with a team in Washington, DC to insure the National Institutes of Health makes lymphatic research funding a priority.

LE&RN Centers of Excellence (COE) provide a geographically diverse network of multidisciplinary clinical care and service centers for individuals and families affected by Lymphatic Diseases (LD). In addition to clinical and social services, the Centers provide professional and lay education in the geographic areas they serve, are involved in LD clinical research and work with LE&RN locally and internationally in its efforts to continually improve the lives of those affected by LD and their families.
