Spotlight on… CHARITY GOLF DAY – RESULTS
By Matt Hazledine
I am delighted to announce that we raised an incredible £8,616 at our annual Charity Golf Day on 4th June 2026, making our rolling total almost £33,000. £6,648 has been donated to the Lymphoedema Research Charity at Derby Hospital and £1,968 to the Lymphoedema Appeal & Research Fund at St George’s Hospital Charity, London.
Special thanks to our Expert Speakers, Rebecca Elwell for explaining ‘why’ we need to self-manage our condition, Prof. Peter Mortimer for his very funny anecdotes and Dr Katie Riches for the insight into the work being done by the Derby Research Team.
The industry partners were incredibly generous once again, with their sponsorship, goody bag items, prize holes, raffle prizes and their time.
Next year’s golf day is on Thursday 3rd June 2027 at Belton Woods GC, Grantham. Keep an eye on the website https://lymphoedemaunited.com/information/charity-golf-day/

This event is much more than just a golf day. Michael and Helen attended for the first time and said…
Michael – Golfer with Lymphoedema
“You might be interested in this!” my lymphoedema nurse said as she handed me a flyer about the annual Lymphoedema United Golf Day.
Not having attended the golf day before I was not sure what to expect – but I needn’t have worried – I had a great day, as did my two guests. On the course our team captain looked after us really well and we had lots of good banter. Off the course I had some useful chats with industry representatives that were helping to support the event.
Three things really stood out for me … an excellent venue, how well organised the day was, both in the lead up to the day and on the day itself, and how friendly and welcoming everyone was – although each of us are on our own unique lymphoedema journey it’s good to meet others who understand. A big thanks to the whole team!

Helen – L&R Medical
I really enjoyed attending the Lymphoedema United Charity Golf Day. It was my first time at the event, so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, it of course turned out to be a fantastic evening.
The golf centred event created a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, making it easy to connect with others and have meaningful conversations. It provided a valuable opportunity for people to chat, share experiences, and build supportive connections in a natural and enjoyable way.

What stood out most was the strong sense of togetherness. Whether someone was living with lymphoedema, speaking at the event, supporting as an industry partner, or simply there to show their support, everyone came together with a shared purpose: to raise awareness and make a positive difference. It was a well-organised, enjoyable, and impactful event that balanced education, connection, and engagement beautifully. I would highly recommend it and look forward to attending again in the future.
REGIONAL ROADSHOW – MANCHESTER
Living with lymphoedema is hard but you are NOT alone!
I was delighted with the attendance at the second Lymphoedema United Regional Roadshow in Manchester on 19th May. The new building, meeting facilities and catering at Moya Cole Hospice, Cheadle, was superb! Thank you to Fiona Sanderson, Julie Kenyon and the team for all your help.
Over 40 delegates benefitted from meeting other local people with lymphoedema, along with presentations and product demonstrations from L&R, PhysioPod, Daylong, Haddenham, Lympha Press and Jobst. Goody bags were plentiful!
The Meet the Experts panel was also well-received, with Fiona Sanderson, Julie Kenyon, Pixie-Victoria Sayers and Cheryl White. They all explained WHY compression, skincare, massage and a healthy lifestyle is IMPORTANT for the self-management of Lymphoedema. They each gave a top tip to help us to live better with lymphoedema, before many diverse questions were put to them during the Q&A session.
We raised £325 for the Hospice, donating 50% of the ticket revenue, plus sales of Sock Shop Gentle Grip socks and Haddenham Lymphoedema Awareness Stickers.
Members, keep an eye on your emails from me, with details of future events around the UK.

As the British summer brings warmer weather, we know it can become much more challenging to maintain your daily compression therapy routine. When temperatures rise, it is completely understandable that wearing extra layers can feel uncomfortable.
However, consistency is key to your treatment. That is why your comfort is more important than ever.
Why choose Comfiwave this summer?
Comfiwave combines breathable knitting technology with soft organic cotton against the skin to deliver exceptional comfort, even during warmer weather.
Breathable
Advanced knitting technology allows for maximum airflow, keeping you cool on warm nights and throughout the day.
Soft & Certified
Features soft organic cotton against the skin, manufactured using GOTS-certified organic cotton yarn.
Versatile
Perfect for day or night-time wear, all year round. In fact, many patients report that Comfiwave feels cooler to wear than conventional hosiery due to the breathable nature of the fabric.
What others say about Comfiwave
Although in hot weather you may be tempted to take a break from your compression garments, this is often when your legs need support the most. These real-world experiences show how Comfiwave can help you stay comfortable, making it much easier to stick to your routine even on the warmest days.
“Really comfortable to wear at night. Unlike other products, doesn’t make my leg hot when temperature is high.”
“I expected to feel very hot wearing Comfiwave in bed, but I was surprised that I didn’t.”
“The garment felt breathable and my leg wasn’t sweating after wearing it overnight.”
5 Tips for Wearing Compression in Hot Weather
-
- Stay well hydrated throughout the day.
- Keep cool where possible and avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.
- Apply compression garments first thing in the morning when swelling is typically at its lowest.
- Choose breathable compression garments designed for comfort in warmer conditions.
- Follow your clinician’s advice and continue wearing compression as prescribed.
Stay cool, comfortable and compressed this summer with Comfiwave.

British Heatwave = Tough time for people with lymphoedema! Keep your compression garment in the fridge overnight, in a waterproof bag, so it’s cool when you put it on in the morning. Keep cool during the day by using a handheld water spray to dampen the garment. Elevate, drink water regularly and stay out of the sun if possible. https://lymphoedemaunited.com/information/looking-after-yourself//
